I am going to be an uncle!

I wasn’t supposed to say anything, but I finally got the OK! Congratulations to my sister Melissa and her husband Jimmy! I’m so happy to be an uncle and have the opportunity to be part of their child’s life. Who knows, maybe I’ll learn something before I start getting the pressure to have little Jacob's running around. Again, I am very proud that I’m going to be an uncle. Congratulations , Jimmy and Melissa Spence!

Whats new? Recently, we took a trip to San Miguel de Allende (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Miguel_de_Allende) for the weekend. I had never heard of the place being a tourist spot, but it was great! As I’ve been seeing more and more, the town was marked by an old Spanish and Mexican influence, but not to the exclusion of American businesses (i.e. Starbucks, Can you tell I’m a coffee connoisseur?) During the brief trip, we caught the end of a Good Friday parade (a demonstration of Jesus rising) and then headed to dinner at a nice restaurant with a terrace overlooking the city. Enjoying the night on the town was a much appreciated change of pace from 2-A-Day track work. We also had the opportunity to make our way back towards Leo's hometown, where I discovered the final piece of the puzzle that is Leo!

Training, training, training. I have ’till the 21st and then I am free! I am ready to roll out. Although I would love to stay and make this my training spot, I am ready for the states. I recently found out that I am running at Penn Relays on the 24th, the one thing that I don't know is what leg I am running or who will be running on my team. We are hoping to run the team that we have here (David Torrence, Leo, and I). Regardless, I can’t wait to race with the ol' Red, White and Blue at Penn. It will be my first outdoor professional race. See how it goes.

Overall, I think training is going well. I have two and half weeks and things are starting to pick up. I am really excited to get into the season. I will be in Austin on the 24th after the race and off to Jamaica on the 28th. I may just avoid the beginning of Texas heat…

I posted some pictures... check em out . Also, David made a training montage video (check it out under videos)!

See y’all guys in a couple weeks.

Thanks,

Jakob

P.S. If I run 2:15 for the 800 leg, expect the website to be taken down.

P.S.S Congrats to the Longhorns on the DMR win.
