After winning his first individual national championship in the spring of 2008, Jacob Hernandez looked to have a great senior year in store. After transitioning to with a new coach in his final collegiate career Jacob beat out NCAA rival Andrew Wheating for the indoor title, his second championship over the Olympian. As he continued into outdoor, the worst happened as Hernandez went down in the Big 12 4x4 with a hamstring injury. The injury would cause Jacob to miss the NCAA Regional, NCAA Championship, and for the second straight year, he'd miss his chance to make team USA. After a tough road of uncertainty Hernandez found the track once again with long time teammate Leo Manzano and former assistant coach while at UT, Ryan Ponsonby. With a group, new training, and a refocused Hernandez, 2010 looks bright for the star to shine.
Jacob will hit the track this Saturday at Texas A&M where he will open up his season with his mile run ever. Check back Saturday on Flotrack for race footage from Texas A&M.
